Job summary

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is hiring a Cafeteria Worker/Nutrition Assistant. This on-site role supports patient-focused nutrition, assists with menu selections, and ensures diets are followed.

The position schedules Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a pay range of $19.00–$25.56 per hour and a regular, part-time status. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and customer-service experience in healthcare or food service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
• Healthcare or patient-facing experience is a plus.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with menu selections while ensuring compliance with prescribed dietary restrictions.
• Adjust meal selections based on physician, dietitian, or nursing instructions.
• Ensure patients receive meals and nourishment as ordered and notify nursing staff of any concerns.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to requests according to department guidelines.
• Process orders for nutritional supplements and enteral nutrition products.
• Support meal delivery, tray setup, and tray retrieval processes.
• Complete regular and therapeutic diet menus in accordance with established standards of care.
• Assist tray line operations and food service supervisors as needed.
• Monitor and document calorie counts and meal intake information.
• Conduct meal rounds and tray assessments as assigned.
• Address and resolve patient service issues and concerns promptly.
