Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services in Cambridge, MA is seeking a part-time Shift Leader to assist the Director in running a seasonal shelter. You will oversee Shelter Support Workers and ensure a safe, respectful, trauma-informed environment for guests during the December–April period.

The role is non-exempt and involves safety monitoring, intake documentation, crisis intervention, and collaboration with staff to maintain smooth operations. A strong commitment to serving unhoused individuals is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related human services preferred.
• Two years of experience in health or human services preferred.
• Experience with unhoused individuals and behavioral health/substance use disorders preferred.
• Demonstrated professional writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Basic proficiency with Windows, Word, and Google Apps.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shelter operations and supervise Shelter Support Workers.
• Provide care for guests and maintain safety by visual monitoring of all guests.
• Ensure safety of the guests and facility by assisting shelter support workers with conducting scheduled safety checks.
• Complete required documentation at intake, HMIS, as required.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and supervisions.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
