Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services seeks a Shelter Support Worker to create a welcoming, safe space for unhoused individuals. The role operates in a low-threshold, harm-reduction setting, emphasizing trauma-informed care and engagement with guests who have behavioral health and/or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities include monitoring safety, completing intake documentation, crisis intervention, and collaboration with staff. This non-exempt position requires teamwork and adherence to safety plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months experience in health or human services preferred.
• Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
• Basic proficiency with Windows, Word, and Google Apps.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for guests and maintain safety by visual monitoring.
• Ensure safety of the guests and facility through safety checks.
• Facilitate a respectful and safe check-in process.
• Complete required documentation at intake and HMIS.
• Follow safety plans and report incidents to supervisor.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of all guests.
• Participate in required meetings and trainings.
• Other job-related duties as assigned
