Job summary

University of California - Davis seeks a Neurology/Neurosurgery Afterhours/Weekend Technician to deliver anesthesia support, assist in surgeries, and train within a leading veterinary neurology team in Davis, CA. The role emphasizes independent work under supervision with emphasis on patient care in a fast-changing clinical setting.

Responsibilities include anesthesia induction, monitoring, OR preparation, and client education, with a focus on safety and teamwork in a 24-hour teaching hospital

Qualifications

• CA RVT license or obtain CA RVT license within 3 months from hire.
• No minimum education required.
• Experience independently providing treatment where conditions change rapidly.
• Experience calculating drug dosages and administering meds IV/SC/IM/orally.
• Experience performing venipuncture, vascular catheter placement, induction and monitoring of anesthesia, and recovery of patients.
• Experience in aseptic technique, surgical clipping and patient prep, and OR circulation.
• Ability to recognize normal vs abnormal parameters and respond accordingly.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Independently provide anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for neurology/neurosurgery cases.
• Provide technical support for the Neurology/Neurosurgery service and assist in surgical prepping and OR tasks.
• Communicate with clients and assist with patient admission and discharge while collaborating with the team.
