Job summary

Valmont Group is seeking skilled welders for weekend 12-hour shifts (Fri–Sun) in Columbus, NE. Training Mon–Thu from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm, then transition to weekend day shift.

Duties include welding, cutting, and assembling steel poles and substations from blueprints, using a cutting torch and overhead crane, with emphasis on safety and quality. The role requires MIG welding experience, ability to read tape measures, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent; welding training preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints or layouts is beneficial.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and layouts to fit structural parts for welding prep.
• Lay out markings on metal parts and cut with a torch.
• Weld structural components for steel poles, substations, and structures.
• Adjust welding equipment settings as required.
• Move pole shafts using an overhead crane and gather parts.
• Follow safety policies and wear protective gear.
• Participate in department safety and maintain attendance.
