Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines, seeks a skilled machinist for on-site work in Wells, ME. The role involves set up and operation of NC milling machines and lathes, following operation sheets and instructions to produce weldments and assemblies.

You will verify finished work with precision instruments, maintain TPM and operator certifications, and collaborate with engineers and QA to resolve machining issues.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1+ years related experience or a post-secondary certificate in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate NC milling machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations.
• Work from operation sheets and instructions to set up equipment for turning, facing, boring and chamfering operations.
• Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain Operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines by performing TPM.
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, programmers and other production personnel to resolve machining problems.
• May be assigned additional tasks to support department objectives.
