Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Wells, Maine, is offering a 3rd-shift training program designed to turn individuals with little or no machining background into certified operators. A 3-week training plus 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training will prepare you to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines and related equipment.

You will learn to verify parts to specifications, work from technical sheets, and collaborate with engineers and QA to resolve issues while progressing toward operator certification and

Qualifications

• High School or GED.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience.
• Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations.
• Work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS and instructions to prepare equipment.
• Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines via total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and production personnel to resolve machining problems.
