Job summary

Atrium Health's High Point Medical Center Lab is hiring a Full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist. The role supports newborn to adult testing across multiple specialties, with a 40-hour weekly schedule and weekend shifts Fri–Sun, 8:00 am–8:30 pm.

You will perform a broad range of tests, ensure accuracy, and assist in training staff. Requirements include a BS in clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology, and certification within 1 year by ASCP/BOC/AMT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory sciences.
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field.
• ASCP/BOC/AMT MT/MLS certification must be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Documents quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Provides direction and training to technologists, phlebotomists and staff.
• Helps improve laboratory procedures and ensure CAP/Regulatory compliance.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports specialty testing areas.
• Provides rapid, accurate results for critical care departments during high acuity events.
