Job summary

Advocate Health's Hugh Chatham Hospital Laboratory in Elkin, NC seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our full-time team. The role includes weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) with an additional weekday, 5:30 am to 6:00 pm schedule, supporting a fast-paced lab environment.

Requirements include an Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field and MLT certification within 1 year (ASCP BOC or AMT).

Qualifications

• Licensure/certification: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification must be obtained within 1 year (ASCP BOC) or AMT within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols and adjusts workflow to complete work on time.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports appropriately.
• Performs calibration/maintenance of instruments and quality control procedures; takes corrective action as needed.
• Identifies and reports instrument/test malfunctions; participates in proficiency testing.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients per protocol and ensures proper labeling for testing.
• Supports phlebotomists and staff; contributes to improving lab procedures and compliance with accrediting standards.
