Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC is seeking a Kennel Assistant to support grooming and boarding needs. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will care for patients, admit them with specific instructions, and help maintain a clean, safe boarding area.

Weekend availability is required and shifts rotate. Prior animal handling experience is preferred; you should be able to lift up to 25 pounds and follow PPE protocols to keep teammates and clients comfortable.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability is required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts.
• Adheres to OSHA safety techniques and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients visiting for grooming or boarding.
• Admit patients with instructions, gather contact info and pickup time.
• Record feeding schedules, appearance and behavior during visits.
• Observe for illness or discomfort.
• Handle patients safely and restrain when needed.
• Walk patients multiple times daily for exercise and elimination.
• Provide appropriate food and liquids as required.
• Ensure cages and patients are clean, labeled, and belongings stored properly.
• Maintain kennels and ward areas clean and disinfected.
• Launder towels and blankets.
• Walk grounds, remove trash.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
