Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC in Southeast Kansas is seeking a Kennel Assistant to support grooming and boarding needs. Working under the Practice Manager, you will help keep the boarding area clean and safe, walk and feed patients, and administer medications as directed by doctors or technicians.

This role requires weekend availability and a friendly, patient approach to client care. Prior veterinary experience is preferred, physical duties include lifting up to 25 pounds, and adherence to

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends when required.
• Prior veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.
• Follows OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting for grooming and/or boarding.
• Ensures admitted patients follow client instructions for quality outcomes.
• Records feeding schedules, appearance and behavior during visits.
• Observes patient condition and behavior for signs of illness or discomfort.
• Handles patients safely and restrains difficult cases as needed.
• Walks patients multiple times daily for exercise and elimination.
• Provides appropriate food and liquids as directed.
• Keeps cages, kennels and rooms clean, disinfected and organized; washes bowls.
• Launders towels and blankets; maintains tidy hospital grounds and trash.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
