Job summary

VitalCaring Group is seeking an On-Call Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) for Thursday through Sunday coverage in Metairie and Covington, LA. You will lead the plan of care, manage symptoms, and deliver personalized, comfort-focused care at end of life in field-based settings.

You’ll collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and aides, ensuring seamless care and guidance for patients and families while maintaining compliance and high-quality standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (or compact eligibility).
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
• Strong clinical judgment and compassionate care approach.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently.
• Excellent communication skills in sensitive situations.
• Basic EMR proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead patient-centered hospice care and develop comfort-focused care plans.
• Act as case manager, coordinating care across the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide education, emotional support, and guidance to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in care planning.
