Job summary

Compassus in Reston, VA is seeking a Weekend Hospice Admissions Coordinator to process referrals, coordinate admissions, and enter data. This weekend role requires availability on Saturdays and Sundays, with options including Friday–Sunday 8am–5pm or Saturday–Sunday shifts with variations in hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2–3 years of related experience strongly preferred.
• Experience communicating with physicians, nurses and other healthcare personnel highly preferred.
• Experience in insurance and Medicare/Medicaid billing and reimbursement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient referrals and coordinate admissions.
• Attend staff meetings, educational programs, and community events.
• Communicate identified needs and potential solutions to supervisor.
• Receive and process referrals from physicians, patients, families and community.
• Contact physicians to secure an order for admission.
• Coordinate pre-certification with insurance companies and schedule informed consent/RN visits.
• Explain hospice services and benefits to patients and families.
• Ensure admission documentation is signed, dated, and shared with the IDT.
• Enter admission data into the third‑party system and manage charting accuracy.
