Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a weekend dispatcher to coordinate ambulance and internal staff movements from the Command Center at IU Health Bloomington RAHC. The role requires prioritizing requests, maintaining clear communications, and ensuring timely dispatch of personnel to destinations.

You will handle phone calls, take accurate messages, and transfer inquiries with courtesy and urgency, while informing the team about workload and status for upcoming shifts.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience dispatching in a healthcare maintenance environment or comparable experience required.
• High School Diploma/GED required. Associates Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and communicates requests (dispatching) and establishing priorities in order to dispatch internal and external personnel to specific destinations in an organized and timely fashion.
• In addition to answering telephone calls, service requests, takes accurate messages or transfers calls to appropriate individuals with a friendly voice and a sense of urgency.
• Communicates pending workload, staffing concerns, change and status with other dispatchers and other pertinent information to subsequent shift personnel.
• Customer requests are perceived as opportunities to help and requests are either handled or solutions are suggested.
