Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Forensic Medicine Coordinator to perform weekend day forensic examinations for victims of violence and to lead training for SAEs. The role requires an accredited nursing degree, RN licensure, and SANE certifications, with experience in acute care nursing.

The coordinator will manage scheduling, data collection for grants, and ensure compliance with NYSDOH and IA FN standards, while coordinating community outreach and staff development.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• 1-3 years of recent acute care RN experience.
• RN licensure required upon hire.
• Completion of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner course as per IAFN guidelines.
• Ability to train residents and staff in SAE procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide forensic examinations for victims of violence on weekends.
• Train residents, nurses, mid‑levels, and MDs to standardize care.
• Maintain chain of custody for evidence and equipment.
• Develop NYS training programs for SAFE/SANE examiners and arrange training classes.
• Coordinate outreach trainings and monitor quality improvement activities.
