Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a part-time Janitor to support our facilities in Town of Manlius, NY. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and readiness to maintain appealing spaces for members and staff.

Shifts include Saturday 11:00 am – 7:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Requires a high school diploma and ability to perform basic repairs. CPR/First Aid training is required within designated timelines. We value community, service, and readiness to help others.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning solutions.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate routine maintenance tools.
• Ability to keep facility/area clean and orderly.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains positive relationships with members and staff.
• Maintains a physical presence and stays alert while on duty.
• Knows and follows emergency procedures; reports deficiencies as required.
• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in building common areas.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light fixtures).
• Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms.
• Maintains neat janitors’ room and ensures supplies are stocked.
• Assists in examining facilities for safety hazards and reports findings.
