Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is hiring a part-time Janitor to support our community-focused facilities in Liverpool, NY. The role involves cleaning, basic repairs, and ensuring safe, well-maintained spaces for members and staff.

Weekend shifts (Sat & Sun 8 am - 4 pm) support a reliable, welcoming environment. We seek detail-oriented individuals who can follow safety protocols, pass background checks, and work collaboratively with teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must pass a background check.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and cleaning solutions.
• Detail‑oriented and thorough.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools.
• Ability to keep the facility/assigned area clean and orderly.
• Ability to interact with staff, members, participants, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

Responsibilities

• Models the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; supporting members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
• Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms.
• Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational.
• Maintains a neat and orderly janitors’ room; stock supplies and equipment.
• Knows, follows, and enforces all YMCA policies and safety procedures.
