Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a part-time Janitor to support daily cleaning and safety across our Syracuse facilities. You will perform general cleaning, minor maintenance, restrooms, and common areas while upholding the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Weekend shifts required (Saturday and Sunday 7:30 am to 4 pm); a high school diploma is expected. Training on safety, child abuse prevention, CPR/First Aid will be provided to ensure a safe, welcoming environment

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Detail-oriented and thorough.
Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
Ability to keep the facility/assigned area clean and orderly.
Ability to interact with staff, members, and visitors while remaining professional.

Responsibilities

Models YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas and common spaces.
Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms.
Performs limited grounds maintenance and ensures equipment is available as needed.
Attends mandatory meetings and trainings.
