Job summary

Goleta, City of (CA) is seeking a part-time/temporary Community Center Event Monitor/Building Attendant to supervise events and maintain safety at the community center. Shifts are mainly on weekends and evenings with 10–15 hours per week.

The role emphasizes proactive engagement, safety, and responsive service to attendees. The position is non-benefits eligible, at-will, and capped at a 999-hour annual total, with open recruitment and routine screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in event management, security, or related fields is a plus.
• Previous experience in event monitoring, facility management, customer service, or similar roles preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise events within the community center facility.
• Ensure compliance with facility rules, regulations, and safety protocols during events.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, or concerns that arise.
• Assist event organizers and participants in setting up and organizing spaces.
• Maintain a friendly, professional presence and assist attendees as needed.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of the building and address maintenance issues.
• Monitor access control and coordinate with staff for repairs and cleaning.
• Keep accurate daily records of activities and incidents.
• Provide information on events, rentals, and programs.
