Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. This full-time midshift role runs 9am-9pm on weekends, delivering patient-centered care through the nursing process and collaborating with the care team.

You will assess patients, administer medications, and participate in life-saving interventions, with documentation, compliance, and education for patients and families.

Qualifications

• RN license required or compact state licensure
• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care preferred
• BCLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications as applicable per unit guidelines

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care per nursing process and policy
• Conducts patient assessments and documents findings; reports changes promptly
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors for adverse effects
• Assists physicians during procedures within competency
• Writes and updates individualized care plans with interdisciplinary team
• Responds to emergencies and participates in CPR/code team activities
• Educates patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care
• Adheres to infection control and safety standards; maintains a clean, safe environment
• Documents care thoroughly in the medical record; supports continuous improvement initiatives
