The Arc Southern Chesapeake provides opportunities for independence and personal success for people with differing abilities in inclusive communities of their choosing. The Direct Support Associate role offers hands-on support in a residential setting and may include community or recreational activities.

Ideal candidates are at least 18 with a HS diploma or GED, hold a valid driver's license, and can pass Maryland background checks with a clean driving record. A reliable vehicle is required.

Qualifikationen

• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driving license (Driver permit or provisional license are not permitted).
• Can pass a criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.
• A good driving record with no more than 2 points.
• A reliable vehicle to be used in transporting individuals we serve.
• Enjoy assisting people and hands on support.

Aufgaben

• Assist individuals with personal care and daily living skills (e.g., personal hygiene, health, toileting, eating, lifting/transfer).
• Teaching Skills that build on individuals strengths and capabilities through establishing and accomplishing personal driven goals.
• Assist individuals with daily living and household management (e.g., meal prep, laundry, cleaning, decorating).
• Assist individuals with becoming active in the community of their choice, including transportation needs and developing relationships to build friendships and resources.
• Assisting with or dispensing medication or other prescribed medical treatments as necessary.
• Assist individuals to act as their own Advocate or connect individuals with advocates when there are barriers to service needs.
