Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is seeking a Direct Support Associate to provide hands-on support in residential homes and community settings. This part-time role covers Saturday and Sunday shifts, with options for a 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm schedule, and pays $20.00 per hour.

You will assist individuals with daily living skills, help them access community activities, and support personal goals while ensuring safety and quality of life.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driving license.
• Can pass a criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.
• A good driving record with no more than 2 points.
• A reliable vehicle to be used in transporting individuals we serve.
• Enjoy assisting people and hands on support.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care and daily living skills (e.g., personal hygiene, health, toileting, eating, lifting/transfer).
• Teaching Skills that build on individuals strengths and capabilities through establishing and accomplishing personal driven goals.
• Assist individuals with daily living and household management (e.g., meal prep, laundry, cleaning, decorating).
• Assist individuals with becoming active in the community of their choice, this may include transportation needs (banking, medical appointments, social or recreational settings), developing relationships within the community to build friendships and resources.
• Assisting with or dispensing medication or other prescribed medical treatments as necessary.
• Assist individuals to act as their own Advocate or connect individuals with advocates when there are barriers to his or her service needs.
