Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is hiring part-time Personal Support Associates to help individuals access the community, form friendships, and live as independently as possible in Calvert County, Maryland.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living, transportation, and community activities; supporting decision making and self-direction; and maintaining respectful, confidential communication with clients and families. Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driving license (We cannot accept driver permit or provisional license).
• Can pass a criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.
• A good driving record with no more than 2 points on the license.
• A reliable vehicle to be used in transporting individuals we serve.
• Enjoy assisting people and hands on support.

Responsibilities

• Assists individual(s) with physical and personal management needs, teaching skills and building on strengths.
• Assists with household management and transportation to maximize independence.
• Assists with and/or dispenses medication (as certified) or other prescribed medical treatments when necessary.
• Supports individuals in developing friendships and relationships.
• Provides opportunities for involvement in community and leisure activities.
• Assists in identifying needs for community supports and initiating community connections.
