Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals in residential settings and community activities. You will provide hands-on support, promote independence and help with daily living tasks, transportation, and community involvement.

Ideal candidates are 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driving license, and can pass a Maryland background check. The role includes training, compliance with guidelines, and potential lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
• A valid driving license and reliable vehicle for transporting individuals served.
• Pass a criminal background check as required by Maryland law.
• Good driving record with no more than 2 points on license.
• Ability to assist with personal care and daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care and daily living skills.
• Teach skills to build on personal strengths and achieve goals.
• Assist with daily living and household tasks (meal prep, laundry, cleaning).
• Support community engagement and transportation to activities or appointments.
• Assist with or dispense prescribed medications as needed.
• Act as advocate or connect individuals with advocates when needed.
• Attend required training and comply with agency guidelines.
