Job summary

IGHL Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New York to provide hands-on assistance with ADLs and transport as needed. The role emphasizes mutual respect, teamwork, and teaching daily living activities.

The DSP will administer medications per certifications, guide self-care routines, and document all care activities while participating in ongoing trainings and meetings to support residents’ independence and well-being.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications required; AMAP certification preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour.
• Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.
• Enthusiastic team player able to handle stressful situations professionally.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication, per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Uses pro-active approach to offer and encourage choice; utilizes redirection techniques per OPWDD SCIP certification.
• Guides, teaches and supervises self-care routines including toileting, hygiene and grooming.
• Implements program goals and documents care, including billing as needed.
• Implements physical therapy interventions as written.
• Supervises housekeeping tasks and assists with community activities and transportation as needed.
• Maintains driver authorization status and provides transportation for community activities and medical appointments.
