Job summary

YAI is opening the START Resource Center in Kingston, NY and seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This part-time role is scheduled Saturdays and Sundays, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM. The DSP assists with personal care and daily living activities, provides emotional support, teaches skills, ensures safety, enforces program guidelines, and helps individuals pursue goals in line with IPOPs and BSPs.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals in maximizing strengths and abilities while upholding personal rights.
• Supports personal goals and encourages socialization and community connections.
• Ensures health, safety, and supervision; follows program guidelines and crisis procedures.
• Provides care in ADLs, including personal hygiene and daily living activities.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment.
• Transports and escorts individuals to activities and appointments.
• Gathers data on behaviors and reports changes to supervisors.
