Job summary

The Direct Support Associate role is to assist individuals who need support accessing the community, making friends, having fun and being as self-sufficient as possible, mainly in residential homes.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driving license is required (no driver permits).
• Must pass a criminal background check as required by Maryland.
• A good driving record with no more than 2 points.
• Reliable vehicle for transporting individuals served.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care and daily living skills (hygiene, health, toileting, eating, transfers).
• Support development of personal goals and skills through guided activities.
• Assist with daily living tasks and household management (meal prep, laundry, cleaning).
• Help individuals participate in the community and arrange transportation as needed.
• Assist with or dispense medication or other prescribed treatments as necessary.
• Advocate for individuals and connect them with advocates when needed.
