Residential Support Associate

This part‑time role provides support to individuals who need assistance accessing the community, making friends, having fun, and becoming as self‑sufficient as possible.

Pay

Base pay range: $20.00 per hour.

JOB TITLE: Residential Support Associate
SALARY: $20.00 per hour
STATUS: Part‑time
SHIFT: Every other weekend, 6 am – 2 pm or 2 pm – 10 pm

Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with personal hygiene, light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, and grocery shopping.
  • Help with bank appointments, medical appointments, and medication administration (when certified).
  • Provide transportation and social/recreational assistance to support independent living.
  • Teach and reinforce community living skills such as health, grooming, toileting, and eating.
  • Help residents manage household duties, including meal prep, laundry, cleaning, and decorating.
  • Support individuals in building friendships and other relationships.
  • Identify and provide opportunities for community and leisure activities.
  • Assist in recognizing needs for community supports and coordinating with informal support systems.
  • Plan, make informed choices, and follow through with responsibilities for residents.
  • Use effective, sensitive communication to build rapport and adapt to individual communication styles.
  • Learn and use proper terminology and explain concepts for understanding.
  • Maintain collaborative professional relationships with residents and support team members.
  • Follow ethical standards, including confidentiality and informed consent.
  • Assist and/or facilitate the implementation of individualized plans to achieve resident goals.
  • Advocate on behalf of residents when barriers arise, interacting with community members and organizations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and defuse crisis situations; contact necessary supports and maintain ongoing monitoring.
  • Implement behavior plans as outlined in the resident’s care plan.
  • Maintain accurate records and documents, ensuring timely submission and confidentiality.
  • Comply with agency guidelines and incorporate sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues.
  • Attend, complete, and pass all required training, initially and on an ongoing basis.
  • Accomplish all assigned tasks and demonstrate role‑model behavior at all times.
Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.

  • Proficiency in computer software such as Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Dependable, responsible, consistent, and punctual.
  • Flexible, able to follow direction, work as part of a team or independently.
  • Strong desire to create long‑term, trusting relationships.
Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally stand, walk, sit for long periods, use hands to hold or handle objects, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
  • Work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
  • Work environment is generally not exposed to weather conditions.
  • Noise level is typically moderate.
