Job summary

Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, LA seeks an experienced ultrasound technologist to perform advanced diagnostic sonography in collaboration with staff radiologists. You will mentor junior staff and students, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Required RDMS or registry eligible within 1 year of hire, CAHEA-approved program, and BLS. Strong knowledge of abdominal anatomy and ability to communicate clearly with patients and radiologists is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
• RDMS or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Independently operates sonography equipment to complete imaging procedures.
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Reviews images for diagnostic quality prior to transmission.
• Performs annual quality control and remediation as needed.
• Assists in departmental operations (scheduling, inventory, equipment maintenance).
