Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Rochester is seeking a part-time Facilities Custodian for 2pm-6pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The role emphasizes maintaining clean facilities, greeting members by name, and supporting the mission and values of the organization.

Responsibilities include cleaning, minor repairs, event setup, weather-related grounds care, and reports of damages. Must be reliable, able to work independently or in a team, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with cleaning, disinfection, floor care and related equipment.
• Able to work in a team and independently.
• Good communication and interaction with people.

Responsibilities

• Cleans bathrooms, offices, locker rooms, hallways and other areas by vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and polishing.
• Performs minor maintenance repairs and tasks as directed.
• Assists with set up for meetings, special events, etc.
• During shutdown periods, must be available to work if needed.
• Strips and polishes floors, cleans carpets and other restorative cleaning activities.
• Empties and cleans trash containers.
• Moves, rearranges and dusts furniture and fixtures.
• Clears snow and salts sidewalk in inclement weather or as needed.
• Reports any damage or needed repairs to equipment or property to supervisor.
• Uses cleaning supplies properly and efficiently.
• Keeps cleaning closets clean and uncluttered during shift.
• Interacts with staff, members, and public professionally.
• Assists in special projects at the branch or other facilities.
• Responds to emergencies appropriately within training.
• Attends mandatory training and meetings.
• All other duties as assigned.
