Job summary

Avamere Living is hiring a part-time Cook at Avamere at South Hill in Spokane, WA. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, ensure dietary compliance, and maintain high sanitation standards in a warm and home-like dining environment.

Responsibilities include executing daily menus, accommodating dietary needs, and collaborating with care staff to meet residents' preferences while maintaining ServSafe protocols.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of Cook experience, hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
• ServSafe Manager certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions with attention to detail for recipes and production sheets.
• Current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
• Experience in quantity food preparation and safe food handling.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring meals are appealing, seasoned, and served at correct temperatures.
• Prepare alternative menu options and snacks for residents with changing appetites.
• Adapt recipes for dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, texture-modified).
• Accommodate memory care dining challenges with finger foods, flavors, and flexible dining times.
• Maintain a calm, inviting dining environment and uphold high sanitation standards.
• Monitor and log food and refrigerator temperatures daily for quality control.
• Collaborate with Dietary/Dining Services Director and nursing staff to align care plans with resident diets.
