Job summary

Avamere Living is seeking a Part-Time/On-Call Cook at Avamere at Bethany in Portland, OR. You will prepare nutritious, flavorful meals for residents across care levels, ensure dietary restrictions are met, and maintain sanitation to the highest standards.

Join a team focused on warmth, dignity, and resident well-being, with on-call shifts including weekends. ServSafe and Food Handler credentials are preferred, and you will contribute to a safe, home-like dining experience for seniors.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years Cook experience in hospital/healthcare facility preferred.
• Current ServSafe Manager certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Requires a current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions and to follow recipes and production sheets.
• Demonstrates initiative and sound judgment in setting up meals and utilizing leftovers.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Prepare alternatives and snacks for residents with changing appetites.
• Adapt recipes for dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, etc.).
• Address dining challenges of memory care residents.
• Maintain a calm, welcoming dining environment and ensure food safety, storage, and sanitation.
