Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Building Attendant II (Custodian) for the weekend day shift. Responsibilities include unlocking/locking exterior doors and classrooms, and performing custodial cleaning in academic buildings, with occasional event support and overtime.

The role requires basic reading, the ability to follow verbal instructions, and reliable communication by phone or radio. This position is part-time (20 hours per week) with benefits, located in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in custodial, hospitality, environmental services, warehouse, production or facilities maintenance.
• Experience following basic work instructions.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Must be able to communicate via two-way radio.
• Basic reading skills to understand work orders, product labels and other written materials.
• Stable work history and strong attendance.
• Ability to walk 3 to 5 miles daily.
• Reliable means of communicating with the department outside of work by phone.

Responsibilities

• Unlocking/Locking & General Cleaning: perform cleaning according to procedures and schedules.
• Perform Work Orders: set up table linens and other items for events; on-duty cleaning and event support.
• Respond to Emergencies: clean up after emergencies such as floods.
• Overtime: may be required before/after shifts, weekends, holidays or emergencies.
