Employment Details

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 hours. Position Duration: Expected to Continue. First Day: Ongoing.

Responsibilities

• General Cleaning
• Quality – work according to established procedures using prescribed equipment.

• Has not received formal discipline within the evaluation period.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of job tasks or training subjects.
• Attends training as scheduled.
• Follow training guidelines as instructed.
• Safety: Have no lost time injuries due to unsafe work practices or failure to follow procedures; regularly use PPE, safety shoes and equipment; perform all tasks within established safety guidelines; report unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
• Security: Secure buildings and rooms on schedule or after cleaning as appropriate; follow correct unlocking/locking and alarm procedures; follow key control/access card procedures; carry UT ID at all times during work hours.
• Perform Work Orders: Provide on‑duty cleaning and event support; set up of table linens and other items for special events.
• Respond to Emergencies: clean up after emergencies such as floods.
• Perform Overtime: Mandatory overtime may be required with little or no advance notice.
• Substitute: Fills in for absent co‑workers as requested.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Six months of experience in custodial maintenance work.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• More than one year of custodial experience.

Salary Range

$37,440

Working Conditions

Environmental Demands:

• Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
• May work in all weather conditions, around chemical fumes, standard office conditions, biohazards, chemicals, electrical and mechanical hazards.

Physical tasks:

• Climbing of stairs and ladders.
• Lifting and moving.
• Manual dexterity.
• Various postural movements (sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl).
• Continuously lift and/or move up to 20 lbs; frequently up to 40 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Vision: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Talk or hear and taste or smell.

Additional Working Conditions:

• May be assigned to work in any building; frequently exposed to outdoor activity, laboratory environment, dust, noise, chemicals, moisture, odors.
• Occasionally exposed to blood‑borne pathogens.
• Uniforms are furnished and required.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, (5:30 pm – 2:00 am). Overtime may be required with little or no notice.
