Job Description:
Position Summary

Performs duties related to applying herbicides.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Apply herbicide on roadways, sidewalks, and retention ponds.
  2. Maintain a clean vehicle and monitor vehicle needs (oil, gasoline levels, tire pressure, etc.).
  3. Ensure proper oil to gas ratio in gas cans.
  4. Maintain and document all receipts for gas purchases.
  5. Log all areas sprayed with herbicide.
  6. Ensure the security of all work-related equipment.
  7. Ensure the safety of people and wildlife near chemical application sites.
  8. Help meet client expectations.
  9. Always wear proper protective clothing.
  10. Work independently and as part of a team.
  11. Use technology for reporting workflow.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in right-of-way maintenance.
  2. Knowledge of herbicide safety measures.
  3. Understanding of environmental conditions suitable for herbicide application.
  4. Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks on schedule.
  5. Ability to follow written and oral instructions from clients and coworkers.
  6. Ability to maintain detailed herbicide application records.
  7. Ability to operate a boom spray machine.
  8. Ability to operate a trailer.
  9. Availability for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  3. Current Department of Agriculture Commercial Applicator's license in Core, Right-of-Way, and Aquatic categories.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions. Must wear full protective gear during applications. Ability to lift at least 60 lbs. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, handling, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing.
