Job summary

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Web and Social Media Marketing and the Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations, the Web Marketing Coordinator supports University strategic goals and branding by coordinating, planning, and implementing website design and maintenance functions that continuously improve appearance, usability, functionality, engagement, and overall effectiveness of the University website. The coordinator will also collaborate on the development of digital content for all digital platforms. Across these functions, the coordinator will possess and apply strong skills in the responsible use of a wide and rapidly evolving range of AI-enabled tools, platforms, and workflows, integrating these technologies to strengthen digital content, user engagement, and website effectiveness.

Principal Responsibilities

• As a member of the Marketing and Public Relations team, continuously updates and strengthens the design of the University website, its component parts and its architecture, with an emphasis on pages that support undergraduate and graduate student recruitment and student retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Web and Social Media Marketing to plan and implement website design initiatives, create new pages that are consistent with University strategies and web best practices, and maintain and upgrade existing pages.
• Creates and modifies web pages using current standards and best practices in website layout, design and coding.
• Reviews site analytics to inform plans and initiatives.
• Supports search engine optimization and AI-assisted search (SEO/AEO) goals and best practices.
• Consults and collaborates proactively and independently with faculty, academic and administrative leaders, and web content editors in departments across campus.
• Trains and supports departmental web editors in the University website content management system.
• Monitors and manages requests for website revisions and updates submitted via the University helpdesk system.
• Collaborates on recruitment and oversight of student website assistant team.
• Collaborates on development of digital content including videos to be deployed on the web, through social media and in support of virtual events.
• Designs and distributes targeted emails, texts and other digital communications to support student retention and recruitment strategies, and campus communications.
• Collaborates on updating, designing and distributing digital publications, and refreshing content on University homepage and other key pages.
• Evaluates, adopts and applies AI tools and platforms to improve web design, content creation, coding, analytics and workflow efficiency, and provides guidance to colleagues and campus partners on the effective, responsible and appropriate use of AI technologies.
• Represents the Department on committees.
• Performs other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

Competencies / Skills Required

• Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript and CSS coding for front-end web design/development and the ability to safely and appropriately use AI tools.
• Familiarity with a wide range of AI tools and platforms (such as generative AI chatbots, agents, AI-assisted coding, image and video tools, and AI-driven analytics and search), the judgment to apply them effectively and responsibly, and a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt as these tools rapidly evolve.
• Proficiency in graphic design, layout, and image optimization for digital media.
• Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications.
• Knowledge of video creation.
• Knowledge of website and social media analytics; a working knowledge of Google Analytics is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a service orientation, and experience collaborating with faculty and staff, or complex institutional teams, at all levels.
• Proven ability to work independently on simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment, with equal ease working in close collaboration with team members on projects with shared design, content, and deadlines.
• Enthusiasm and curiosity about rapidly evolving technologies, new AI and content creation tools, and digital design standards.
• Ability to manage collaborative student teams working on large web projects and a high volume of web maintenance tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience with enterprise-level web content management system such as dotCMS, Drupal or Joomla.
• Experience in a higher education setting.
• Knowledge of website analytics with a working knowledge of Google Analytics.

Salary & Benefits

Starting Salary - AFT Range 24 - $76,486.40 - $87,954.55
