Job summary

Optimizely is seeking a Web Developer to join our digital Experience team. You will turn design files into polished, high-performing web experiences across our marketing and product sites, working with designers, content creators, and engineers.

You will build reusable UI components, ship pixel-perfect pages from Figma, and connect the front end to content through a headless CMS, using React, Next.js, and modern front-end tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
• Strong JavaScript/React fundamentals and front-end engineering experience.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms and modern web tooling.

Introduction

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Web Development, the Web Developer will be a core part of our digital experience team-working at the intersection of front-end development, content, and marketing to build a world-class web presence powered by Optimizely's own market-leading SaaS CMS.

In this role, you will turn design files into polished, high-performing web experiences that bring our brand to life and make our site easier to grow. Working closely with a team of multidisciplinary designers, content creators, and senior engineers, you will build and maintain reusable UI components, ship pixel-accurate pages from Figma, and connect the front end to content through a headless CMS.

Job Responsibilities

• Strong JavaScript and React fundamentals with a solid grasp of component-based UI development.

• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, including a utility-first framework such as Tailwind CSS.

• Comfort translating design system files (Figma) into production-ready web pages.

• Familiarity with Next.js or a similar server-rendered React framework.

• Experience using Git and standard version control workflows.

• Detail-oriented approach to consistent styling, code quality, and structured conventions.

• Collaborative working style with the ability to bridge communication between content/marketing teams and engineering.

• Excellent communicator comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with different timelines.

Additional skills and preferences

• Experience working with Headless CMS platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Contentful, Sanity).

• Working knowledge of GraphQL basics.

• Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG).

• Understanding of automated testing (unit and end-to-end).

• Exposure to component documentation tools like Storybook.

• A web development portfolio or past work examples that showcase your coding capabilities.

Knowledge and Experience

Ability to work across multiple projects at the same time
Must possess a strong understanding of the software development cycle, Object-Oriented analysis, design and development. Strong understanding of design patterns like MVC and MVVM
High level of comfort using git alongside other developers, including deployments and code reviews
Understanding of issues involved in reliably deploying optimized websites from git code repositories
Understanding concepts of developing for a content management system
Experience with Azure App Services, Functions, and SQL Databases
Experience with Optimizely (formerly Episerver)

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

Total Target Compensation range: $74,000-$137,000
