JOB SUMMARY
The Web Content & Maintenance Specialist supports MIC-managed websites (multiple public sites, the OneStThomas intranet, and WordPress sites), by responding to reported issues, performing proactive maintenance, testing new functionality, and providing user training and documentation.
This role is responsible for ongoing website maintenance, including triaging help desk tickets: taking action, responding, routing to others, or escalating as needed. Responsibilities also include proactive upkeep in the content management system (CMS), such as removing unused images, fixing broken links, and retiring outdated pages. The specialist participates in or leads content clean-up projects, conducts testing and QA reviews for new sections or websites, and performs daily workflow reviews, using a QA checklist to assess changes made by others on public sites.
In support of colleagues across the University, this position will create and maintain a training curriculum and deliver training on the intranet and public sites. Training will be tailored to individual needs and may include custom documentation for web modules or tools used by specific individuals or teams. In support of training and ongoing improvement, this position creates and maintains documentation on how to use the back-end web systems, what layout options are possible, testing and quality standards, and relevant best practices.
The Web Content & Maintenance Specialist reports to the IA-UX Content Manager, who is responsible for defining the structure and layout of new and updated websites and sections. This role supports that Manager and University partners by assisting with web content projects, including creating sitemaps, wireframes, and page tables, then building or adapting webpages in the CMS using provided content.
As a member of the Marketing, Insights, and Communications web team, the Web Content & Maintenance Specialist works with developers, system owners, and content owners to ensure the quality of the MIC-managed websites. This position is ideal for someone who can think quickly, make informed decisions, problem-solve independently, and take prompt action in a fast-paced environment.
This position has the option to work on campus or at home, with the expectation that employees come to campus 1-2 times a month for meetings.
