Job summary

Chimes seeks a Web and Digital Interface Designer to design, build, and deploy solutions that support mission-critical work. This remote USA role requires collaboration with developers, management, and users to create accessible, privacy-conscious interfaces aligned with goals and style guidelines.

Qualifications include a UX-related bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience. A portfolio may be requested. The compensation is tiered by geographic location with hourly pay ranges across Tier 1–3.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Web Design, Digital Media, or related field preferred.
• Portfolio demonstrating interface or web-design work may be required.
• 3+ years of directly related technical experience.
• Experience documenting requirements, configurations, tests, changes, and results.
• Experience in government, regulated, or security-conscious environments preferred.
• Degrees/certifications in CS, data science, or related fields preferred.

• Support website creation and updates, including code and content guidelines; weigh accessibility and privacy in design decisions.

Chimes | Web and Digital Interface Designer | Remote Position

We're looking for a Web and Digital Interface Designer to design, build, and deploy solutions that support mission-critical work.

Location:

This role is remote within the USA. You must be legally authorized to work in the US. Chimes does not provide visa sponsorship.

What you'll do

• Conduct user research and analyze stakeholder and user feedback to define requirements, identify usability issues, and improve interface design.
• Develop visual concepts, storyboards, site maps, page templates, prototypes, and interaction diagrams, and design responsive, accessible, privacy-conscious interfaces that align with project goals, user needs, and style guidelines.
• Collaborate with web developers, management, users, hosting providers, and network personnel to define requirements, prioritize needs, and resolve issues affecting the user experience.
• Create and maintain design specifications and documentation covering product features, interface behavior, technical constraints, and test results.
• Support website creation and updates, including supporting code and content-style guidelines; weigh accessibility, privacy, performance, budget, and legal requirements in design decisions; and recommend design tools and technologies.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Web Design, Digital Media, or a related field preferred.
• A portfolio demonstrating relevant interface or web-design work may be required.
• Equivalent combinations of related education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Three (3) or more years of directly related technical experience.
• Experience documenting technical requirements, configurations, tests, changes, and results.
• Experience in government, regulated, or security-conscious environments preferred.

Degrees and certifications in computer science, data science, or related fields are preferred, but equivalent education and experience are welcome.

Compensation:

This is a remote position open to candidates in the United States. Base salary is determined by the candidate’s work location, along with skills, experience, and internal equity. The ranges below reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for each geographic tier:

• Tier 1 (Washington, DC and Northern Virginia): $41.07 - 47.23 per hour
• Tier 2 (Los Angeles, CA, Baltimore, MD): $35.06 - $41.92 per hour
• Tier 3 (New Castle, DE, Orlando, FL, and Dallas, TX): $29.98 - $36.26 per hour
