  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and work in varied physical conditions (stooping, bending, confined spaces).
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable record.

  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, verify eligibility, prepare documentation, and schedule appointments in a timely manner and maintain accurate records.
  • Install conservation kit items, when appropriate, and assist in development and coordination of energy education sessions.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools (blower door, duct blaster, monoxer) and computerized audit software to model homes and generate work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with all technical standards, program specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Compile data for weatherization and energy education files accurately and in a timely manner and issue work orders to contractors dependent on the audit and inspections.
  • Complete required courses to attain required certifications (BPI, REA, Quality Control Inspector) within 2 years, or as designated by ACCESS.

The Weatherization Technician I supports energy efficiency and safety improvements in residential homes through no heat/AC inspections, whole home inspections, audits, and installation of weatherization measures. This role involves assessing homes for energy conservation opportunities, educating participants, and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. Upon completion of required training, certifications, and a minimum of 2 weeks training post certification, the technician may advance to Weatherization Technician II.

  • Ability to meet certification requirements for Weatherization Audit Tools and BPI credentials (training provided).
  • Strong math, computer, and organizational skills: proficiency in software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and work in varied physical conditions (stooping, bending, confined spaces).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers and co-workers, sustain participant and interdepartmental confidentiality.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel as needed for training and other work-related purposes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to maintain sustained concentration with attention to detail.
  • A valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable record under ACCESS’ insurance policies.
