Job summary

Jekyll Island Authority is seeking an Aquatics Manager to oversee daily waterpark operations at Summer Waves. Lead lifeguards and attraction staff, enforce safety rules, and coordinate training under the Operations Manager. Position requires strong leadership, emergency response skills, and park-wide safety oversight.

The role includes performing safety checks, managing guest concerns, and maintaining water quality, with benefits and full-time year-round status.

Qualifications

  • Requires 2+ years of supervisory experience in a water park or similar facility.
  • Must be certified as an American Red Cross lifeguard instructor with water park module or equivalent.
  • CPO and Water Safety Instructor certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise aquatic staff; complete post-season records.
  • Follow SOPs and update manuals with Operations Manager.
  • Lead in-service training (AED, rescue techniques, first aid, safety).
  • Perform opening/closing safety checks and manage daily logs.
  • Ensure safety across all park attractions and supervise guest safety.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid and rescue as needed.
  • Maintain park cleanliness and assist with water quality for Splash Pad.
