Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Structural Intern for Summer 2027 in the Seattle area. This entry-level, temporary role supports project teams with basic drawings, models, calculations, and data, under supervision.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Structural or Civil Eng degree with a structural emphasis.
• Entering final year of degree after summer; master's preferred.
• EIT certification preferred; internship experience valued.
• Completed coursework: Engineering Materials, Structural Analysis, design course.
• Willing to perform field investigations; previous internship preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SAP2000, LPile, Mathcad, Bluebeam; strong communication.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check; authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design waterfront structures; inspect structures and maritime tasks.
• Perform structural analysis for marine structures (piers, seawalls, etc.).
• Design with timber, steel, concrete, aluminum, composites as needed.
• Develop plans, specs, calculations, and reports; assist in problem solving.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, scientists, and managers on projects.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare inspection reports; review shop drawings.
• Support office construction administration and submittal reviews; field work.
