Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol offers a Waterfront Structural Engineering Internship for Summer 2027 in the Seattle/Federal Way area. The role supports project teams in engineering, CAD/BIM, or related disciplines; you’ll produce basic drawings, models and calculations under supervision.

Entry-level, temporary, with no direct reports. Candidates should be pursuing a structural or civil degree, ideally in final year, with coursework in materials and analysis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s in Structural or Civil Eng with a Structural emphasis; final year after summer.
• Completed coursework: Engineering Materials, Structural Analysis; at least one design course (reinforced concrete or structural steel).
• EIT certification preferred; internship experience preferred; field investigations welcome.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design waterfront structures and inspect maritime projects.
• Perform structural analysis for marine structures (piers, wharves, seawalls, platforms, etc.).
• Develop plans, specifications, calculations and reports as needed.
• Assist in resolving design problems, field investigations, and coordination with multi‑discipline teams.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare inspection reports; review shop drawings and submittals.
