Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking an entry-level Distribution/Collection Tech Trainee to assist in the maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater system. This role involves working under supervision, supporting technicians, and performing manual labor as needed.

Candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent and be able to obtain Distribution D and Collections I licenses within 1 year. A Texas driver’s license is required and safety awareness is essential for day-to-day duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in maintenance/repair operations preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Distribution D License within 1 year of employment.
• Ability to obtain a Collections I License within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repairing and maintaining water and wastewater mains, service lines, hydrants, meters, valves and manholes.
• Assist technicians and crew leaders and provide needed support.
• Perform manual labor for water/wastewater line repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
