Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, Hawthorn Woods, IL is seeking a System Operator Trainee to support installation, operation, and maintenance of water and wastewater equipment. You will assist with customer service and learn under the Field Supervisor for facility operations.

Starting wage for this union position is $35.00/hr. Higher pay may apply with relevant licenses. The role includes a 24/7 on-call schedule and potential progression to System Operator I within 24 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems preferred.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License; CDL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater and water facilities equipment.
• Inspect systems and review data records.
• Collect and analyze water samples for compliance.
• Prepare reports for IEPA, ICC, and other regulators.
• Respond to service orders and coordinate maintenance.
• Operate vehicles and site equipment.
• Support with other tasks as needed.
• Maintain safety and adherence to procedures.
