Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, seeks a System Operator Trainee in the Hawthorn Woods/Lake County area. Under supervision, you will operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities, assist with customer service, and support with regulatory reporting.

Starting wage is $35.00/hr with potential increases for licenses. Union position with scheduled shifts Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30am–4:00pm CT, and opportunities for promotion to System Operator I within 24 months.

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma (or Equivalent).
• Professional experience working with industrial mechanical systems and/or pumps is preferred.
• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's Operator's License; CDL is a plus!
• Trainees must progress to a System Operator I within 24 months of placement and obtain a Class D water license OR a Class 4 wastewater license.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater and water treatment facilities and related equipment.
• Perform inspections and tests of system operations and review data.
• Collect, analyze, and record water and wastewater samples for compliance and process control.
• Prepare reports for regulatory entities and internal stakeholders.
• Respond to work orders and assist with customer service activities as needed.
• Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
