Village of Caledonia in Wisconsin seeks a Utility District Operator Apprentice to assist in daily operations of water, wastewater and storm sewer systems under supervision. Final title and pay depend on experience and qualifications.

The role involves maintenance, meter work, system inspections, and equipment servicing. Candidates must reside within 15 miles and be available for 24-hour emergency response; valid licenses and safety certifications are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess mechanical aptitude.
• Possess and maintain valid Class D license without restrictions (Apprentice).
• Possess (Operator) or obtain within one year (Apprentice) a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without restrictions.
• Possess (Operator) or obtain within one year (Apprentice) Water Distribution License, Bloodborne Pathogens Confined Space Entry, CPR/First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and flushing of the wastewater collection system and water distribution system.
• Perform cleaning and repairing of pumps, motors, and pipelines; address equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain and service equipment; assist in installation and startup of new equipment; support maintenance programs.
• Maintain maintenance and operating records.
• Inspect and service mechanical and electrical control systems.
• Read, install, test and repair water meters.
• Assist with cleaning operating facilities and routine janitorial duties.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle in Wisconsin weather conditions and uphold safety and property interests.
