Job summary

Construction Association of Michigan seeks a skilled Water/Wastewater Operator to perform routine operations and maintenance of the municipal water and wastewater systems. You will manage pumps, valves, meters, and laboratory testing to ensure compliant water quality and service to the community.

Responsibilities include sample collection, data recording for regulatory reports, and maintaining the distribution network.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred in a related field.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License required; CDL Class B with endorsements may be required within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment to meet standards.
  • Collect and analyze water/wastewater samples; maintain records for mandated reports.
  • Maintain collection system components including valves, hydrants, and lines.
  • Install, read, and manage meter accounts; discontinue service for delinquencies as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on distribution system and lab equipment; calibrate instruments.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and participate in snow removal as needed.
