Job summary

The City of Stoughton is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operator to maintain pumping, storage, distribution systems and wastewater facilities for the City. Focus on water distribution operations with an on-site role, performing routine testing, data analysis, and system monitoring.

Responsibilities include SCADA operations, reporting to DNR, and coordinating with Utilities staff. Requires a High School diploma, CDL with tanker/air brake, and mechanical aptitude; on-site work with occasional standby

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and one or more years water/wastewater operator experience.
• Commercial driver’s license with tanker and air brake certification required.
• Demonstrated mechanical and/or plumbing aptitude.
• Ability to perform mid-level data analysis, including auditing, deducing, assessing and concluding.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate water pumping, storage and distribution systems and wastewater facilities.
• Monitor and test water and wastewater quality and SCADA data.
• Repair and maintain water distribution mains, pumps, valves, and hydrants.
• Inspect and maintain sanitary sewer collection system and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Prepare monthly pumpage and treatment reports for Wisconsin DNR.
• Operate SCADA to monitor system health and respond to issues.
• Interact with customers, handle inquiries and outages notices.
• Maintain records, work orders and GIS databases.
