Job summary

The City of Canton is hiring a full-time Public Works Utilities Operator to manage water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, storm sewer maintenance, and general construction and repair. The role also responds to emergencies affecting City services, snow and ice removal, and related tasks.

Key duties include operating water/wastewater equipment, inspecting pump stations, installing lines and meters, and performing routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• CDL within 6 months or ability to obtain it.
• Safe driving record and compliance with safety standards.
• Experience with water/wastewater maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain City water and wastewater equipment and facilities.
• Perform regular inspections of pump stations and collect samples for testing.
• Install and locate water/sewer lines, hydrants, meters and shut-offs.
• Respond to customer inquiries, check for leaks and perform routine maintenance.
• Conduct snow/ice removal and site repairs as needed.
• Prepare required records and reports.
